In a World Series that will be remembered as full of grit and overcoming adversity, the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame being outplayed by a gritty Toronto Blue Jays to repeat as champions. When it was thought to be over for the Dodgers, they found a way to pull it off with unexpected clutch hitting and heroes. This series made unexpected heroes out of reliever Galvin Klein and utility infielder Miguel Rojas. In the end: despite the outstanding postseason performance from Shohei Othani, it was Yoshinobu Yamamoto that took home the World Series MVP award with his superb pitching when it counted the most. He went 3-0 and was lucky to be scored upon; pitched a complete game in Game 2 and delivered the title clincher in Game 7.

 

Let's don't take anything away from the Toronto Blue Jays. This team fought all the critics that were against them by a 2 to 1 margin to give the Dodgers a run for their money. The team delivered a message in Game 1 and never stood down. Vladimir Guerrero Jr was already causing havoc in the postseason and it continued in the World Series. The spirit of the team got lifted up when shortstop Bo Bichette returned to the lineup. Let's give kudos to an unheralded pitching staff that didn't matchup well on paper against the Dodgers. The Jays got an exuberant performance from rookie Trey Yesavage in Game 5 as he stuck out 12. More impressive was the Jays took two out of three at Dodger Stadium, especially after that 18-inning marathon loss.  On a footnote, they were two outs away from being champs.
