WEEK 22

 September Means Expansion

The final month of the season means one thing for our power rankings: it's time for the annual expansion. The road to October is well-underway and things are getting tight in almost of all the divisions around baseball. Where will the field of twelve reveal? Find out towards the very end of the month.

Despite losing the early week series to the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies, the Milwaukee Brewers are on top for the sixth straight week. The Crew remain to enjoy a cushion of a lead in the NL Central. Speaking of the Phillies, they moved up a spot to #3 thanks to winning two of three in the three game set versus the #1 Brewers. The resurgence of the New York Yankees continued as they climbed three spots to #3; they were able to win a combined four quality games against the Houston Astros and the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite still leading the AL East, the Blue Jays climbed one spot to #4; a bigger showdown is over the horizon in a couple of weeks against the Boston Red Sox. A two-win week dropped the AL Central leading Detroit Tigers two spots to #6. After climbing five spots to #2, the Los Angeles Dodgers slid five spots down back to #7; they suffered their worst week of the season as they were able to only muster one win. The Red Sox had a so-so week but it cost them two spots to #8. Parked at #10, the Houston Astros as they are trying to hold of the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.

EXPANDED RANKINGS WELCOMED BACK.......................

The expansion of the power rankings welcomed back two teams that were both last seen a few weeks ago. The New York Mets return back to the picture at #9 thanks to adding promising youth to the back of the starting rotation, led by sensation Nolan McLean; they took two out if three from the #6 Detroit Tigers. The Mets were last seen in Week 17. Despite only winning two games, the Seattle Mariners re-enter the conversation thanks to the bat of Cal Raleigh. They remain in hot pursuit of the Houston Astros for the AL West crown.

The next few weeks is expected to bring all sorts of excitement, right up to the final day of the regular season. Who will be in? Who will be left out? Find out as the field unravels itself.
