THE POWER 10 RANKINGS

The 2016 campaign ended in historic fashion as the Chicago Cubs ended a 108 yr old title drought by beating the Cleveland Indians in 7 games. This marked the notion the Cubs started the season on top, ended the regular season on top, and finished on top at the very end. The Cubs are probably expected to start the season on top in most noted preseason rankings.

Much deservedly, the Cleveland Indians finished second in the rankings. The Indians shutdown two highly prolific offenses in the Blue Jays and Red Sox with outstanding pitching and timely hitting. They were doing the same thing with the Cubs until their bats woke up.

Those wondering about the San Francisco Giants....yes they made the postseason on an even year, but their push for a World Series title came to a halt by the eventual champion Cubs. After finishing the regular season in the top 3, the Red Sox and Rangers finish outside the top 5; both teams were swept in their respective series.

With free agency over the horizon, we could see some of these teams be totally different compared to this past season. We shall see if the same ten teams appear in the final rankings this time next year.
