THE LATEST: Midsummer Classic Cancelled; L.A. Compensated With '22 Game

​

After a series of rejected proposals between the owners and the players, Commissioner Robert Manfred went on to implement a 60-game season. The agreement will be based on the March deal. Players will report around July 1st at their home stadiums. Barring any health and safety concerns, the season will start on July 23rd and 24th......with the season to end on September 27th.

Fans will see the following changes this season (some that might be only for this season)

• more divisional games; games outside of the division are against the corresponding interleague division 

• universal DH for regular and postseason

• a potential winning run will be placed on second base at the start of each half-inning if the game goes extras.

• trade deadline is a month later than the original deadline

• active rosters will start at 30 players..........that will be reduced to 26 by the end of thirty days. 

• teams that could be postseason eligible must have their rosters finalized by September 15th.

• a taxi squad of 20 players, in addition to the typical 40-man roster
