Homer-town Hero

It was a derby to remember for the hometown fans.

Down 9 home runs to the Cubs Kyle Schwarber, the Nationals Bryce Harper rattled 9 consecutive bombs in 50 seconds to tie. In the bonus round, Harper blasted the game-winner to claim the title in front of the home crowd.

The hometown derby win puts Harper in the same echelon with the likes of the Cubs Ryne Sandberg and the Reds (and present Mets player) Todd Frazier

As for the runner-up, Kyle Schwarber: the Cubs slugger blasted the most home runs in the derby with 55. In the end, it was the overall that didn't matter the most. he fended off the Astros Alex Bregman and the Phillies Rhys Hoskins (in a wild slugout) to reach the finals.

221 home runs were hit throughout the historic night. View the longest ones on the main page.
