ASTRONOMICAL!

AL Wins 8-6 In Record Setting Affair

The 89th Annual Midsummer Classic is a wrap, and, a record-setter for the ages.

The bow was put on the spectacular three-day event as the American League pulled off an extra-inning victory behind the bat of the Astros Alex Bregman. Bregman hit the decisive home run off the Dodgers Ross Stripling to ultimately give the AL its sixth straight win, and, home field advantage throughout the World Series. As the direct result, the Astros third baseman was named the MVP.

This game shattered the home run record in such a way that the pitching was overshadowed thanks to the slugfest. A total of ten home runs were hit throughout the affair, topping the six previously hit as far as the 1971 meeting. Each team hit five apiece. The only non-home run was a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning which gave the AL a much needed cushion...........as the NL responded back with a home run in the bottom half.

Starting with the Futures Game, through the Home Run Derby, to the game itself, the longball dominated this year's event. Balls were flying all over the place that fans probably wondered if there were any pitching. Whenever it came to getting the third out or wrapping it up, the home run would play a vital factor. In the end, the Nations Capitol saw an All-Star Weekend to remember, and, a one for the record books.

On to Cleveland for the 90th edition.
