The LSU Tigers became college baseball's best as they won the CWS. A month later, their two best players go 1-2 in the draft

College baseball's best pitcher, Paul Skenes, went #1 overall to the Pittsburgh Pirates. A converted catcher that originated from the Air Force Academy, Skenes dominated college baseball hitters with stuff that is deemed as major league ready. He is considered as a generational type of talent by scouts. 

 

Skenes college teammate, OF Dylan Crews, went #2 to the Washington Nationals. Crews is the 2023 Golden Spikes Award Winner. The talented centerfielder produced a track record of success in the SEC. Crews has adopted an advanced approach to the plate, which produced a high walk rate. He hits for average and power that has the potential to make it to the Show much sooner than later.

 

Teams that went to the college route were the Texas Rangers (#4) Florida Gator outfielder Wyatt Langford; the Oakland A's (#6) with shortstop Jacob Wilson from Grand Canyon; the Cincinnati Reds (#7) with Wake Forest P Rhett Lowder. Rounding the college ranks is Tennessee Vols P Chase Dollander to the Colorado Rockies (#9).

 

The following teams went long-term with high-school players: #3 Detroit Tigers (OF Max Clark), the Minnesota Twins (OF Walker Jenkins), the Kansas City Royals (C Blake Mitchell) and the Miami Marlins (P Noble Meyer)

These players will participate this Summer in the draft league. Who will get their first will depend on who will move up their respective farm system.
