UNDER OUR ALL-STAR COVERAGE
Coverage, including the rosters for the U.S. and World teams.
The farm talented Los Angeles Dodgers, once again, developed another rookie of the year.
The organization's recent top prospect, Cody Bellinger, made his presence felt throughout the season as he slugged away to the prestigious award. His 39 home runs made it a sure fire conclusion. It seemed like he really did not have any competition despite going through a slump in the early part of the season. The talented first baseman/outfielder showed he proved to stay for good when certain players came back from time spent on the disabled list. His performance was noted that he got invited to the NL All-Star roster (and participated in the Home Run Derby). He made an impact in the postseason. He plans to be a force to reckon with in the years to come
There were three notable elite prospects who made their presence known throughout the season. The Red Sox third baseman, Rafael Devers, lived up to the hype with his bat and his glove at the corner. The Mets shortstop. Ahmed Rosario, made his ballyhooed debut showing hope for the team's future with his clutch and athleticism. Taking advantage of injuries, the Indians Bradley Zimmer came in and showed the reason why he was one of the top outfielding prospects in the minors.
Two players to pass along who burst into the scenes were the amazing power of the Phillies Rhys Hoskins (who set a record in home runs in his first handful of games) and the Cardinals Paul DeJong.
While the White Sox had a taste of #1 midseason prospect in Yoan Moncada, and, the Red Sox got a full season of Andrew Benintendi, it was the New York Yankees who got the full power of Aaron Judge. Judge broke the AL rookie record as he blasted 52 home runs. His enormous power display at the home run derby earned him the title of derby champion. In addition, he made the AL All-Star team. Unanimously, he ran away with the league's top rookie award. His hulking presence will be an untested pitcher's nightmare, especially with the addition of one Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankee lineup.
More exciting talent is on their way for next season. You have the likes of Eloy Jimenez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Brendan Rodgers and Nick Senzel. The Nationals Victor Robles gave the taste of what is to come for the future in a brief stint. The one to watch is the rising stock of the Braves Ronald Acuna as he rose up their system (earning top minor league player of the year recognition) , and, tore up the Arizona Fall League earning him player of the year.
The new TOP 50 PROSPECTS LIST will be coming soon, but for now enjoy the accolades of the most recent rookie class
