2021 RECAP
The Atlanta Braves headlined the season of transactions with a bevy of key trade deadline moves. The Braves got back a regret made by acquiring OF Adam Duvall from the Miami Marlins. In addition, they acquired crucial pieces in World Series MVP OF Jorge Soler (Royals), NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario (Indians), and OF Joc Pederson (Cubs). These moves resulted in an improbable World Series championship that no one saw coming. The NLCS runner-up Los Angeles Dodgers went huge with the acquisitions of SP Max Scherzer and 2B Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals. Other notable moves include the Giants acquiring 3B Kris Bryant (Cubs), The Mets with 2B/SS Javy Baez (Cubs), the Blue Jays with SP Jose Berrios (Twins), the White Sox with Craig Kimbrel (Cubs), the Red Sox with OF/1B Kyle Schwarber (Nationals), the Yankees with 1B Anthony Rizzo (Cubs) and OF Joey Gallo (Rangers), the Rays with DH Nelson Cruz (Twins), and the AL Champ Astros with a bevy of relievers.
2020-21 OFF-SEASON RECAP
The #1 free agent on the market, J.T Realmuto decided to stay in Philly for five more seasons after being wooed by the likes of intra-divisional rivals. the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals. Meanwhile, the top pitcher in Trevor Bauer moved out West to the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers; George Springer, the top outfielder in the market, went to join the postseason contending Toronto Blue Jays. The rest of the top free agents on the list (for the exception of SS Marcus Seimen), re-signed with their present clubs.
In the trade department, big names in Francisco Lindor (Mets), Nolan Arenado (Cardinals), Yu Darvish (Padres) and Blake Snell (Padres) all found new homes. Those teams are hoping for huge dividends from those players, especially the New York Mets.
The off-season trade market started out slow but picked up at the turn of the new year. January became the new December thanks to no Winter Meetings. Business heavily picked up during the trade deadline. The end of the campaign proved glorious as key mid-season moves benefitted the World Champion Atlanta Braves.
